Chopard is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury jewellery and watches dating back to the 1860 , founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard. Since 1963 Chopard has been owned by the Scheufele family in Germany however.
Chopard is most known for their high-end womens watches and jewellery. Their clients include the rich and famous and royalty like Tsar Nicholas the seoncd of Russia.
In 1974, Chopard relocated to Meyrin-Geneva and in 1976 the company started making the now famous “Happy Diamond” watches that contain free-floating diamonds behind glass. In the 1980s, the company expanded into making sports watches for men and diamond jewelry for women.
In 2010 Chopard celebrated its 150th anniversary, and enjoys about 100 stores world wide.
In 2014, Chopard reported that they employ about 2,000 employees worldwide, 900 of which were located in Switzerland.
Chopard reportedly filed for over 20 new patents just since 2002 and produces about 75,000 timepieces and 75,000 pieces of jewelry per year.
