Burton Morris: Celebrating Pop Culture with Vivid Colors and Bold Lines

Burton Morris is a painter and pop artist widely known for his playful and vibrant works that capture the spirit of contemporary culture. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Morris honed his artistic skills at Carnegie Mellon University, where he graduated with a degree in industrial design. After a brief stint as a graphic designer in New York City, Morris decided to pursue his passion for painting full-time and moved to Los Angeles.

It was in LA that Morris began experimenting with pop art, drawing inspiration from the works of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and other iconic artists who had transformed ordinary objects and images into vibrant works of art. One of Morris’s most iconic early works is his “Coca-Cola” series, which features the iconic logo rendered in Morris’s signature style. Morris has also created works featuring other quintessentially American brands and symbols, such as Campbell’s soup cans, the American flag, and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

In addition to his commercial work, Morris has also created a number of public art installations, including a 20-foot sculpture of a fork and spoon in Las Vegas, and a series of murals in Pittsburgh celebrating the city’s history and culture. Morris’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, from the Smithsonian American Art Museum to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Today, Morris continues to work from his studio in Pittsburgh, continuing to push the boundaries of pop art and create works that capture the essence of modern life.
